Open Water Swimming Coaching Sessions

We offer 2 session types, 1 focused on the complete open water novice, and the other for more experienced open water swimmers looking to enhance their skills and technique.

Swim Ability & Fitness Level: Suitable for complete beginners to open water and those who want a refresher or confidence builder.

 Introduction to open water swimming session:

Looking to take on an open water Triathlon? Thinking of getting into open water swimming? We make it as easy and comfortable as possible for you to take your first step into swimming outdoors. A session combining theory and practical elements, our 2 hour introduction to Open Water Swimming course is the perfect introduction for beginners and will prepare you for swimming in open water, whether that be rivers, lakes or in the sea. We’ll be using one of a number of open water venues situated in the South of England, all of which provide safe and sheltered swimming. It’s here that we’ll introduce you to the world of open water swimming, covering aspects of safety and the basics of open water swimming that will give you a good foundation upon which to build your future swimming adventures. In the theory element we’ll look at acclimatising, how to swim safely, how to navigate effectively and swim in a straight line (not as easy as it may seem!), the effects of the weather on open water and you, breathing in open water and coping with fear/ anxiety.  We’ll consider swim technique, give open water tips, look at entering and exits and how to choose and use swimming wetsuits and equipment. We’ll then move into the water where our experienced coach will take you through a structured session to enable you to practice the theory and your new skills at your own pace in a fun and safe environment.

Session Price: £85 per session

Shared session (with 2 swimmers): £50 per swimmer

Open Water Skills Session:

Looking to improve your open water skills? Have mastered the basics but want to improve? Have a big event coming up? A session combining theory and practical elements, our 1.5 hour Open Water Skills session will help you take the next steps in your open water swimming journey. The session can be tailored to focus on any specific areas you want help with, typically we would look to cover: Acclimatizing (including how to do this on race day), how to swim safely, how to navigate/sight effectively and tips to swim in a straight line, breathing in open water and coping with fear/ anxiety. We’ll then move into the water where our experienced coach will take you through a session focusing on implementing open water skills as well as reviewing technique and form and giving tips on how to improve.

Following the session the coach will issue a feedback form and set of bespoke drills to help you work on specific areas of technique.

We’ll be using one of a number of open water venues situated in the South of England, all of which provide safe and sheltered swimming. Throughout the morning we will cover between 500m to 1500m of swimming, depending on your own personal requirements. We’ll have regular breaks to make sure you are comfortable and not getting fatigued. The whole aim is a fun and information-packed session to build confidence and inspire.

Session price: £65 per session

Shared session (with 2 swimmers): £40 per swimmer
